Hi all,
I’m very excited to report that some of my favourite 1970s garments are going on display as part of a new exhibition at the Glen Eira Gallery on Australian fashion of the time. From the website:
Step back into 1970s Melbourne and explore the era’s bold fashion.
Discover iconic designs by leading fashion designers and labels including Prue Acton, Jenny Bannister, Sally Browne, Clarence Chai, Mr Simon, Miss Hartnell, Leon Haskin, Elvie Hill, Van Roth, Norma Tullo and others.
From vibrant colours and striking patterns to experimental styles, the exhibition reflects a time of creativity, individuality and cultural change.
Featuring garments, accessories, photography and archival material from public and private collections, this exhibition invites all ages to explore, connect and be inspired by the distinctive style of the decade — from bohemian to disco and beyond.

Hello,
Are there also going to be garments for sale? ed Merivale and Mr John?
Nothing for sale, sorry Edwina – but there will be nice things to look at!
Hi Nicole, I’ve just come across this by accident, looking up some designers that I bought from 70’s/80’s. I was going through my old clothing chest, I have outfits from Sally Browne, Indigo, the Garb shop, and my favourite shop in the early 80’s – Blues Point in Chapel St; some of which I think were made by Jenny Bannister. You’ve probably got your collection all set but are you interested in showing these at all? I can send you pics if you are, most of them are still in fab condition. Cheers
Hi Daveen, thank you for your comment. Your treasures are likely too late for this exhibition but I’m absolutely interested in seeing them, especially the Sally Brownes and potential Jenny Bannisters. Will email you.
