[Talk] Racewear history at Brighton

Hi all,

My next pubic talk is coming up next month, for the wonderful Brighton Historical Society.

Long before ‘Fashions on the Field’ began in 1962, Melburnians were dressing elegantly, colourfully—and sometimes outrageously—for the annual racing season. Racewear has evolved alongside racing itself, shaped by shifting fashion trends, weather, and global influences. Join fashion historian and author Nicole Jenkins for an illustrated talk exploring how London models, style revolutions, and practical considerations have all left their mark on Melbourne’s trackside fashion.

Here are the details:

  • What: A History of Melbourne Racewear with Nicole Jenkins
  • Where:  Brighton Historical Society, first floor, Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre (Old Town Hall), corner Wilson and Carpenter Street
  • When: Sunday October 4th, 2:00-3.30pm
  • Cost: $10-15, includes afternoon tea. All funds support the work of the BHS
  • Bookings and more information: Click here.
