Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair

It’s that time again, time for the best vintage clothing fair in the country. This time I have a few extras up my sleeve: as well as judging the Best Dressed on the Friday night, I’ll also be doing a talk and a roadshow on the Saturday.

What: The Sydney Vintage Clothing, Jewellery and Textiles Show
Where: Canterbury Park Function Centre, King Street Canterbury, Sydney
When: Fri Oct 15th (5.30-9pm), Sat and Sun Oct 16th and 17th (9.30-4.30pm)
Cost: Adults $12, Pensioner $10, Children 10-16yrs $5, Under 10yrs free, Family $30.

7.15pm Friday October 15th:
Frock up in your finest for the Best Dressed Contest and win a prize! Entrants who accessorise will be smiled upon and I love to see ladies and gentlemen of all ages and sizes, this is not a beauty contest it’s about who puts together the best look! Outfits from all eras are welcome.

1.30pm Saturday October 16th
Caring for your Vintage.
Join me for a discussion on how to care for your vintage garments without accidentally destroying them! Over thirty years I’ve made every mistake you can, and I want to give you the benefit of my experience in identifying fabrics and their correct care. Learn what can be hand-washed, what can go into the washing machine and what you should only send to your best dry cleaner.

3.30pm Saturday October 16th
Vintage Clothing Roadshow.
Ever wondered if that silk velvet opera coat left to you by Great Aunt Gertie is really from the 1920s? Not sure if that op shop bargain is genuine 1940s or an inspired piece originating from the 1970s? Bring your mystery clothing and accessories along and I’ll reveal their secrets. Every piece of vintage has a tale to tell and I love sharing their stories.

I’ll also be signing copies of my book Love Vintage, which has recently won an award in the Independent Publisher’s Awards! Love Vintage received a bronze medal in the Popular Culture category. I’m currently carrying it around in my handbag, it’s nice and big and heavy.

  1. Fantastic that you are giving a talk Nicole!! I will try and get to have a listen. The roadshow should be fun also. Ha ha–great idea! Also great to have you back judging–that is such a captivating event–one of the best of the weekend, although they are all great.

Congratulations on your wonderful award! Much deserved for a lovely book.
