Caring for your vintage: a talk at the Sydney Vintage Fair

As mentioned previously, I’m presenting a couple of events at this weekend’s Sydney Vintage Clothing, Jewellery and Textiles Fair.

Caring for your Vintage
When: 1.30pm Saturday October 16th
Where: Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair, Canterbury Racecourse.
Cost: free with entry.

I’ll be talking about what fabrics and condition to look for when shopping for vintage: how to identify fabrics and weaves, how to wash them, remove stains and the best way to store your textiles. There will be a Q and A section, and you’re welcome to bring items that you’d like advice on looking after.

Vintage Clothing Roadshow
When: 3.30pm Saturday October 16th
Where: Sydney Vintage Clothing Fair, Canterbury Racecourse.
Cost: free with entry.

If you’ve seen Antiques Roadshow on TV you’ll know what to expect: bring along any clothing or accessories that you’re curious about and I’ll tell you about it, how old it is, where it might have come from, who might have worn it and to what sort of occasion, as well as what sort of accessories (or garments) it might have been worn with.

There are lots of wonderful events planned for the Sydney Vintage Fair including Candice DeVille‘s talk “Get that Vintage Glamour Look” at 2.30pm (Candice can also be booked for private styling sessions at the Fair).

Charlotte Smith’s new book “Dreaming of Chanel” will also be available, and Charlotte will be giving talks at 12.30pm on Saturday and again on Sunday at 2.30pm and is available to sign copies.

Loved your talk caring for vintage. Was eagerly wanting to know about velvet and esp about steaming it–so thanks. Missed the Roadshow as was too busy–hope it was great!

  2. Oh! It sounds so fabulous! Wish I wasn’t on the other side of the globe, but I can still get “Dreaming Chanel”!!!
