It’s definitely that time of year – although spring hasn’t quite yet sprung in Melbourne, most of us are looking forward to the warmer weather.
Here’s a new fashion exhibition – from the website:
Maroondah Art Gallery is proud to announce Garden Party 1890 – 1950, a fabulous exhibition and program of activities and events throughout spring.
Featuring carefully selected items from the internationally renowned Darnell Collection, the exhibition showcases the glorious fashions women wore to garden parties during the summer season. Dresses in pastel shades as pretty as the finest macarons from Paris or as flowery and fresh as the gardens in which the ladies sat, will bring back a time when grand entertaining was a way of life.
Dress up and enjoy the glamorous world of Garden Party for the opening on Saturday September 19th: a standout event in your fashion calendar. Join us for a sparkling tour with curator Charlotte Smith and entertainment by the Pearly Shells.
I’ve also been invited to present a short speech at the Opening! I think a floral frock is called for, preferably with a suitable hat.
