New vintage

People often ask me if it’s hard to part with my vintage clothes but I’m happy to see them go to new homes, as it means I can go and buy some more – and no matter how many thousands of dresses you see, you haven’t seen them all.

One of the things I like about the webshop is that after a dress has sold, I still have the photos and it’s nice to have a little piece to remember it by. Usually the garments that come into the Gertrude Street shop don’t get photographed, so I thought you might like to see a few of the new ones to come in during the last week. These are all available for new homes.

If you hover over each image, it will tell you the date of each, and the size – click on it to see the image in full. Hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

  1. Hello Nicole

I recently purchased from you 2 1950s patterns for a jacket and skirt, I have completed them and they are fantastic. I will forward you some pix of the finished outfit. They fit perfectly straight from the patterns.

I will purchase more patterns from you soon.

    I love your site.

  2. Ack! That yellow 60’s dress is most pretty. I still have that voucher to spend at your shop…hmmmm

I love how you can preserve these garments with the photos alone. I’ve taken screengrabs of some stunners that I could never afford in the hope that one day they will provide inspiration for my own sewing. When my skills become sufficient to recreate them.

I wish I could fit that coat-dress too! It looks amazing!

  3. Esz, the coatdress is my current favourite: wish it fit me too! It’s such a classic style and in a great fabric too.

The ’60s yellow dress goes with the matching daisy coat and alas, a chap put the on layby this afternoon, but you might like the flocked party dress: it’s a great shape and will fit you too. We also have a lovely ’60s cocktail dress in cobalt.

  4. Hi Cassandra – great news about the patterns, I would love to see pics of the completed garments! I have lots more ’50s patterns to list on the webshop, just need a few more hours in the day to put the up 🙂

  5. Hi Andy, the coat dress is currently on hold – if you’re interested in it, it’s at the shop for you to try on but it may not be available for sale, sorry.
