I have exciting news today….firstly, a big thank you to everyone who voted for us in Lulu’s Vintage Awards – we won fourth place in the People’s Choice! Pretty amazing for a little Aussie webshop that’s less than a year old, and pretty amazing considering we were up against some incredible and well established webshops around the world.
Which leads me into my news – Circa is about to undergo a metamorphosis, from a retail focus to a salon.
There’s been a lot of changes since Circa opened seven years ago – I’ve written a book about vintage clothing, taken over wholesale distribution and won an international award for it, opened a webshop, presented talks, exhibitions and fashion parades. Now the shop and stockroom are combining to create a Salon, a place that you can come and try on webshop stock and wedding gowns, a place where we can focus on listing items online for your perusal.
Circa has one of the largest collection of Australian antique and vintage clothing (around 7,000 pieces) and soon it will be more accessible to you. We can also host workshops about the history of dress, fabrics and construction – and reconstruction.
Circa Salon will be just down the road from where we are now, in Langridge Street – and parking is much easier there too. Whilst the new Salon is being set up, Circa will still be open on Gertrude Street. Come down and see us before the big move!
Wow that’s some big news Nicole! I think this move will give you more time to focus on the individual customer.
I wish you all the best with the new venture and no doubt we will work together again soon! So if you need help with anything then let me know 🙂
I must come past soon (after I get back from Fiji) and see what I can do about spending that voucher ;-P
Wow, you will be missed on Gertrude Street! Its a shame I haven’t been able to get to Circa in person more often – but living in ‘the sticks’ and having a toddler in tow makes it somewhat difficult! Looking forward to seeing the new salon very soon. It would be particularly great to have more vintage events like talks and fashion parades! Best wishes, Maria
Sounds fantastic Nicole. What an excellent idea.
Hi Nicole, love vintage dresses and skirts and have a collection myself (though don’t fit into them now). If you ever need a mature and passionate hand sewer/embroiderer and fab sales girl, let me know. Best Wishes on your new venture, Koula.
