This weekend is a big one for garage sales – in Fitzroy North there’s a massive vintage clothing sale, and it’s also the weekend of the Garage Sale Trail with sales all over the country – I like the “Need money for kitty dentures” sale in Clifton Hill.

You’ll find the best vintage sale in Canterbury though. Candice and I spent the afternoon helping them price it all up and oh boy, was it hard not to take a lot of it home with us! We both found a few things we couldn’t resist though, and I can assure you that there are some pretty special things left.

Including: an early ’30s pair of lace up oxford shoes, a ’40s leather trench coat, a couple of great ’30s parasols, and lots of wonderful frocks from the ’50s to the ’90s, many of them with designer labels. Also, lots of brand new shoes and hats donated by Schumacher Footwear and Paris Kyne milliner. Vintage patterns, scarves and belts too. The best things will go quickly, prices start at $2.

Here are some pics – all proceeds go to the National Trust’s costume collection conservation.
