Dates for the upcoming Strictly Vintage markets have been announced – as you may know, the SV is a collaboration with Circa Vintage and the Take 2 Markets and we aim to bring you the best vintage at the best prices – with an added bonus for the next two markets of a presentation by myself!

What: The Strictly Vintage market
When: Sunday 20th July, 10am to 3pm (12pm: Talk on 1920s ladies fashions, presented by Nicole Jenkins)
Where: Northcote Town Hall, top of Ruckers Hill, High St, Northcote. Tram out the front, Merri and Westgarth train stations near by.
Cost: $5
More information at the Strictly Vintage Facebook page.

There are still some spots left for traders – click here to select your stall.

Unlike previous markets, Circa Vintage will not be trading – instead I shall be presenting a talk on ladies fashions of the 1920s, accompanied by some items from my own collection! I’ll talk about the social history, fabrics, how to identify real ’20s, how to restore and care for your fashions plus creating a ’20s look using revival styles from the ’60s, ’80s and contemporary fashion amongst others. Free with market entry of $5! See me at 12noon in the meeting room.

Here’s the lovely Clare St Clare modelling one of my beaded silk ’20s dresses – this one features Egyptian motifs.

Here’s the flyer for this and the next event, which will be on November 30th – I’ll be talking about ’30s fashions then and if all goes well, I might get to talk about ’40s and ’50s at upcoming markets. Hope to see you there!

One from the in-box:

“A dear friend of mine has Pompe’s Disease and are forever trying to raise funds for the Association for research. If you could post the below for your following it would be great.”

I love a good cause and this one lets you snaffle great vintage pieces whilst supporting the fight against illness.

What: Pre-loved Clothing Sale
When: Saturday 12th October, 1pm to 5pm
Where: Cheltenham East Community Centre, Follet Road, Cheltenham (Melbourne)
Cost: gold coin entry – free glass of bubbly on arrival!

Recently we attended the Take2 Markets “Strictly Vintage” event at the Northcote Town Hall and it was a great day – thought you might like to see some pics.

I’ve seen a lot of vintage events in Melbourne and this one was by far the best: great venue, great location, great sellers with something for everyone – just good quality vintage from 1890-1990 at bargain prices. Only $5 for buyers to get in and $130 for sellers to trade, there’s more cash in your pocket for what’s important – buying fabulous fashions.

The next event is on August 3rd and Rina is still looking for traders – savvy buyers will be queueing at the door to grab some of the best styles they’ll see this year. I’m so pleased to find a great event and Circa will be there too.

Rina (Take 2 Markets) and I are organising a new vintage market that combines the winning formula of Take 2, but focusing on affordable vintage for fashion lovers.

No frills, just well priced and fabulous fashions!

The first event is planned for next month at the wonderful Northcote Town Hall – here are the details:

What: Strictly Vintage, a new event for the discerning vintage fashion enthusiast
When: Saturday May 25th 10am to 3pm.
Where: Northcote Town Hall, top of Ruckers Hill, High St, Northcote.

Circa will have a stall of course, and I hope to see a lot of you there.

There are still a few spots for traders – good quality and affordably priced vintage clothing a must (pre 1990 please) – if you’re interested, please email Rina. Traders will be selected for their high quality and value. Stalls are a bargain priced $130 each.
