Hi all,
I’m preparing some images for a talk I’m presenting on Saturday, to accompany the free “Emporium” fashion exhibition at the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum.
Here’s the blurb:
Join Nicole Jenkins for an illuminating talk and slideshow about ’50s fashion, including designers, fabrics, construction and sizing from the days when ladies liked to match their hat, gloves and handbag to their shoes and had frocks for every occasion from housework to Gala Balls, worn with the correct glove length, of course.
It’s part of a whole day event, which also includes a talk by Mel Campbell on why we love vintage, and a ’50s vintage workshop by Rockabilly Babes. Full details can be found here.
Here are the details:
What: Melbourne Fashion in the 1950s, talk by Nicole Jenkins
When: 10.30-11.30am Saturday 30th July 2016.
Where: Yarra Ranges Regional Museum, 35-37 Cstella St Lilydale.
Cost: $17 for my talk, $30 for the whole day.
Bookings required: click here.
More information: at the Yarra Ranges site.
Sounds like a great day: hope to see you there x
The fashion back then had so much more class! Even the styling of homes – I just loved the look. (From picture and movies.. but still)
And those hats all the gentlement used to wear… Much cooler than now. IMO.
