[Event] Stylemaker – couture by you industry day

Hi lovelies,

Another great event is coming up. The Australian Sewing Guild are organising a day of couture sewing fun and I’m kicking it off with a talk about fashion and couture sewing techniques of the ’20s to the ’70s – illustrated of course with some of my favourite frocks, which you’ll see up close.

Included will be the gorgeous early ’50s green coat Sarah wore in the recent Rippon Lea fashion parade (see pic). It’s from Harvey Nicholl’s and has really great construction with a big shawl like collar, cut separately but attached at the bustline, through princess seams. I haven’t seen anything like it, and you’ll love it too!

This will be a great talk for people who want to better date their fashion collection, and understand why vintage is better quality and lasts longer than what we wear today, as well as how to duplicate the techniques at home.
