Darnell Collection Fashion Parade – Sydney

Sydney’s State Library are sponsoring a salon style fashion parade of garments from the Darnell Collection.

From the website:
Enjoy a visual extravaganza of stunning vintage French model gowns from the Darnell Collection l’Ecole Superieure des Arts et techniques de la Mode (ESMOD Australia). The gowns and accessories recreate the glamorous fashion parades of the world’s great 20th century couturiers.

See exquisite ensembles come to life in a spectacular salon show in the grand ballroom of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

Compered by Curator Margot Riley, these fabulous garments are set against a nostalgic backdrop of Sydney images from the Library’s collections.

Where: Wentworth Ballroom, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, 61–101 Phillip Street
When: 6pm Thursday 30th July.
Cost: $60, includes canapés and champagne

Here’s an image of one of the Darnell Collection gowns, a fabulous Dior from the ’50s. I took this snap when we were photographing some of the Collection for the Book. Perhaps this beauty will be included in the parade?
