Deceased Estate – Box Hill North

Hi all, recently I’ve been helping out at a deceased estate in Box Hill North. A gorgeous big Victorian house on a big block, with lots of lovely old things including furniture, books, art, kitchenware – and vintage clothing! The lady very generously donated everything to the RSPCA so they’re selling it all to raise funds to care for the animals.

The lady was fortunate in that she had a very large house and inherited things from her parents too – amongst the clothing available are lots of (at least forty or fifty) smart ’60s dresses and tailored suits (she was a lawyer) and hand-knits. Lots of lingerie and old linens.

Some early 20th century including a black silk coat and bodice (probably the top of a dress originally but it could be converted), quite a few ’30s evening gowns, ’40s dinner dresses and ’50s printed cotton frocks and also bright ’70s synthetics. There are silk scarves still in their charming gift wrapping from the ’30s and ’50s. Costume jewellery from the ’20s-70s. Everything has been stored for a while and so needs cleaning and sprucing, but is good quality.

The sale is on this Friday and Saturday – if you’re interested, please call Delaney on 9224 2258 to make a time and the lovely RSPCA ladies will give you the address. It’s such a beautiful old home, I enjoyed working there a lot. The house will be sold too, thankfully it’s heritage listed so hopefully will be restored to its original grandeur.
